Our Statewide Student Day of Poetry has been broke up into five regional events for 2015. You are now perusing the BOSTON event!

On Tuesday, December 15, Mass Poetry’s Student Day of Poetry is taking over UMass Boston! SDOP features a morning poetry sampler, writing-generative workshops, performances, readings, and a student open mic. We’ve got something for everyone, from the student who isn’t even sure they like poetry to the senior leading the after-school poetry club.

Breaking Up With America

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

In this work shop, we will address idealized notions of the American Dream by looking at the way we talk about romance. We will look at break-up poems & poems about colonization & poems about "making it." How is America romanticized? How can some immigrant stories be compared to heartbreak? Students will write their own break-up poems to America.
