Our Statewide Student Day of Poetry has been broke up into five regional events for 2015. You are now perusing the BOSTON event!

On Tuesday, December 15, Mass Poetry’s Student Day of Poetry is taking over UMass Boston! SDOP features a morning poetry sampler, writing-generative workshops, performances, readings, and a student open mic. We’ve got something for everyone, from the student who isn’t even sure they like poetry to the senior leading the after-school poetry club.

The Spaces We Become; The Places We Come From

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Where do you come from? What places have you loved? What places have you tried to rid yourself of? In the course of this workshop, with a mix of prompts and exercises, we will work with the concept of place and its role in shaping who we are. We will hone in on what it means to depict our spaces through poetry, with a focus on portraying what we intend to portray rather than a strict set of guidelines. We will generate poems as variant as our voices and the places we speak from.
